I have heard of people that suck on these, but the flavour is intense very sour and salty. Likely, there would be valuable minerals in these. Mostly, these would flavour a drink, or one could shave off its flesh and mince or grind up to add as a flavouring. In the case of one or two added to boiling water, this could be sipped as is, or, be added as per discernment, to cocktails and various dishes. These can be added to stews, stocks, and to a hot pot dinner too. Steamed dishes could have one or two added. They may be also regarded as a more dried form of umeboshi. Which came first?
