My wife says to soak for 24 hours in plain water and wash before cooking.
These dated bags of beans may be 552 g or 490 g but invariably at least 480 g.
A lady could not get these to be soft no matter how long she tried to boil them. Another lady was happy to buy some and knew about using sodium bicarbonate somehow. Maybe to soak and boil them?
This is the Baked Beans type of Bean.
These can also be used to flatten pastry for baking tarts and pie bases.
